For a few weeks now we have been taught about alternative processes Cyanotype and Kalitype and also shown how to actually do them ourselves! I am honestly really enjoying it and am excited to get my print of a penguin printed in blue and brown using Victorian processes, chemicals and ultra violet light!
I have been researching photographers who use these alternative processes in their practise. This Cyanotype is by John Dugdale an American photographer who is almost blind. I have written more about him in my Work book for my Why Look at Animals Project? His work is mainly of his friends and family, still lifes and landscapes and I think that some of them are really effective images.I also found a photographer who produces images using the Kalitype process, this process makes brown prints as opposed to royal blue ones, Joy Gregory who is a photographer that uses lots of different media such as video, digital and analogue photography and victorian processes (Kalitypes). This particular image of a womens corset is from her Collection named 'Objects of Beauty', I have spoken in much detail about what I think the meaning of these images is in my Work Book.
